Marriage License

Your Marriage License is basically the County giving you permission to get married. Once you obtain the Marriage license, you have 90 days from the issue date to get married.

There are two types of marriage licenses in California:

  • public marriage license is just that, public information. If a company were to do a background search on you, it would show that you are married and who you are married to.  Many people choose to have a confidential license to keep their marriage from being public record.

  • confidential license is equal in regards to legalization and rights. The confidential Marriage license allows two people to marry without witnesses and then protects the couple’s information by only allowing the Bride and Groom access to their marriage certificate. The purpose of the Marriage License is to keep the Bride & Groom’s sensitive data private.
